Down Regulation suppression of spontaneous ovulation, for which two main methods are available: Using a (usually longer) GnRH agonist protocol or an Antagonist Protocol.
- Once the follicles matureafter stimulation, the eggs are suctioned from the ovaries
- and placed in a laboratory culture dish with the man's sperm for fertilization or the Sperm is injected injected into the egg(ICSI / IMSI)
- The dish is then placed in an incubator
- About 3- 5 days later, 2 to 3 embryos are transferred to the woman's uterus
- The lady is then advised rest for 2 days in hospital to give maximum care and medications
IVF is a very good option for
- Tubal blockage or severe tubal damage
- Ovarian failure (NO PERIODS),
- Severe male factor infertility (less than 5 million/hpf)
- Advanced stages of endometriosis
- in women over 40 years old
- In couples with a long duration of infertility (over 5 years)
ICSI / IMSI
Intracytoplasmic morphologically selected sperm injection (IMSI) is a specialized variation of ICSI that uses a higher-powered microscope to select sperm.
In conventional ICSI, the embryologist selects the most normal-looking motile sperm using a microscope that magnifies the sample up to 400 times. IMSI is a variation of ICSI that uses a high power light microscope (enhanced by digital imaging) to magnify the sperm sample over 6000 times. Sperm are then selected which have the most normally-shaped nuclei.
