What are Uterine Fibroids?
Uterine fibroids are grown inside or on the uterine. There are not cancerous cells. They can grow on the inside of the uterus, outer surface of the uterus or within the muscle wall of a uterus. They can change the shape of a womb when they are growing. This leads hard to get pregnant. The size, location, shape, and symptoms are changed over time. As women are getting older, they are more likely to have fibroids. Most have mild or no symptoms. But they cause severe pain, heavy bleeding and other problems. The cause of the fibroids is unknown but the estrogen and progesterone can make them grow. A woman’s body makes the high levels of these hormones during pregnancy time. After menopause, when hormone levels are decreased, the fibroids will shrink or disappear.

Symptoms may include:
  • Miscarriage or infertility(depending on the size and position of the fibroid) Problems during pregnancy (early labour, risk of having a caesarean section) Diagnosis Some fibroids can be felt on examining the abdomen if very large. An ultrasound scan is done to confirm the diagnosis
